Amazon is making a strong commitment to artificial intelligence (AI) in the home. The e-commerce company has equipped its Alexa assistant with more AI-based features, allowing users to teach it to identify specific sounds in each home, such as different appliance alarms, the doorbell, or the sound of the garage door opening, among others.

At the same time, Amazon has launched Astro, a home robot designed to help users with a range of complex tasks, such as monitoring the home or keeping in touch with family. These and other products announced in September by Amazon are part of its vision of a home in which different devices and applications are interwoven, united by AI.
