Information is power. This is what the Chilean startup StatKnow is convinced of, to the point that they are applying this concept to the fight against plastic pollution. The company, which provides services based on statistical science and artificial intelligence, launched the Recyclame project, one of the six solutions selected by the international open innovation call "The Plastic Evolution". The solution focuses on traceability and incentivizing plastic recycling based on blockchain. Recyclame's solution is based on a conceptual development that StatKnow has been working on with ECLAC. The idea is to systematically visualize, size and characterize packaging plastic before recycling, knowing where it is, how much it is by type of plastic, what type of consumers have it and how much it is worth. StatKnow plans to launch a pilot with the goal of reaching two million subscribers in Chile by the end of 2022 and then internationalize the solution.
