It’s February, the quintessential vacation month in the Southern Cone of South America. Tourism is rebounding strongly following the pandemic, but in the major tourist destinations, we’re still below 2019 levels.
Turkey. This fascinating country, a bridge between Europe and Asia, shows a year-over-year decline of just 3% between December 2019 and December 2022. In fact, according to monthly data, in November 2022 it recorded 9% more visits than in the same month of 2019, and in December, 16% more. Thailand has been hit the hardest, showing a 75% year-over-year decline in 2022 compared to 2019.
