The debate on pensions in Chile - from withdrawals to proposals to reform the system - has been the order of the day for at least the last two years. While the fourth withdrawal of AFP funds is being discussed, which do you think are the best countries in the Americas in which to retire?

a) USA, Canada, Colombia
b) Canada, USA, Chile
c) Canada, USA, Colombia
d) USA, Canada, Brazil

Response:

B) According to the 2020 ranking prepared by the French investment bank Natixis (https://www.im.natixis.com/us/research/2020-global-retirement-index), Chile ranks 34th among the 44 nations analyzed (which include OECD members and the BRICs) under four parameters: health, quality of life, material well-being and financial environment for pensioners. In the Americas, Canada ranks first, followed by the USA and Chile. Mexico, Colombia and Brazil rank below. Chile stands out in terms of financial environment for pensioners and health. Globally, the best countries for retirement are Iceland, Switzerland and Norway.
