Where does the energy that moves us come from?

Share

Energy moves the world and markets. Agreements and disagreements among oil-producing countries affect the value of the dollar in international markets, governments' decisions to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions create new opportunities, and companies focused on green energies attract tens of thousands of dollars to the stock markets. This chart from Visulcapitalist on what's what in the U.S. energy market, the largest per capita energy consumer in the world, helps us understand this complex sector. One detail highlighted in the graph: in the process of converting the sources into the energy we consume, we lose 65% of it. In other words, we only use 35% of its energy content.
