Chile is one of the world leaders in generating electricity from renewable sources. With 26% of the electricity generated in 2020 coming from these sources, last year the country met its 2025 target ahead of schedule. In the coming years, billions of dollars will be invested in new solar and wind power plants and small and medium-sized hydroelectric plants. Investors are looking with growing interest at the opportunities in this sector. In Chile, there are already six investment funds and one mutual fund focused on renewable energy, which together manage US$250 million. The bulk of these funds are managed by FYNSA AGF through the Rockville Energy fund (US$147 million), focused on solar plants, and FYNSA Energía (US$59.2 million), focused on hydroelectric projects.
