Speaking of coffee, do you know who is the largest per capita consumer in the world?

A) Brazil

B) Italy

C) USA

D) Finland

E) China

ANSWER

D) Finland

The largest per capita coffee consumer in the world is none other than Finland, with 8.2 kilos of coffee estimated for this year. The cold climate is a good incentive for coffee consumption. After Finland, the other two largest consumers are Denmark and Norway. There are no clear statistics on consumption in China, but it is very low. It is estimated at 0.2 kilograms per capita per year, but it has been growing strongly and is expected to do so at a rate of more than 10% per year until 2026. The Asian giant is also recording explosive growth in the number of branded coffee shops: 23.2% between 2018 and 2019, compared to 7.1% in South Korea and 3.5% in the US. A curiosity: China is the ninth largest producer of coffee beans in the world.
