Speaking of coffee, do you know who the world's largest per capita consumer is?

A) Brazil

B) Italy

C) United States

D) Finland

E) China

ANSWER

D) Finland

The world’s largest per capita consumer of coffee is none other than Finland, with an estimated 8.2 kilograms of coffee this year. The cold climate is a strong incentive for coffee consumption. After Finland, the next two largest consumers are Denmark and Norway. There are no clear statistics on consumption in China, but it is very low. It is estimated at 0.2 kilograms per capita per year, but it has been growing strongly and is expected to continue growing at a rate of more than 10% annually through 2026. The Asian giant is also experiencing explosive growth in the number of branded coffee shops: 23.2% between 2018 and 2019, compared to 7.1% in South Korea and 3.5% in the U.S. An interesting fact: China is the world’s ninth-largest producer of coffee beans.
