The investment world has its fair share of thematic indexes. One of them is the Barclays Women in Leadership Total Return USD Index, designed to provide exposure to U.S.-based companies listed on the New York Stock Exchange or Nasdaq that have a female CEO or 25% women on their boards. 

To invest in this index, Barclays launched in 2014 a Barclays Women in Leadership Exchange Traded Notes, linked to the returns of the above index. In the last twelve months through May 31, this ETN had returned 40.47%.
