The recovery of the economy and markets is visible in all aspects: consumption, international trade, asset prices and, of course, inflation. Another indicator that has recovered rapidly is foreign direct investment. According to fDi Intelligence, global foreign investment announcements reached their highest level in more than a year in September, with 1,163 greenfield projects. Capex, however, has yet to reach pre-pandemic levels: it totaled just over US$400 billion in the first nine months of 2021, almost 37% below the same period in 2019.

More than 20% of the announced projects correspond to the technology and information technology services sector, followed by the oil and gas sector.

The fDi index, which measures investor sentiment, reached 939 points in September, its highest level since November 2019.
