In the next ten years, we will experience more advances than in the last hundred. With this vision from Peter Diamandis, co-founder of Singularity University, the consulting firm McKinsey presents the 10 technological trends that are changing the world.
What are they? Let's see:
- First, McKinsey points to the new leap forward that automation and virtualization processes will take. The result? By 2025, half of the tasks performed today will be automated.
- The second technology mentioned by McKinsey has already arrived in Chile: increased connectivity. In this regard, McKinsey estimates that 80% of the global population will be connected to 5G by 2030.
- The adoption of distributed infrastructure is cited in third place. The consulting firm estimates that 75% of the data generated by organizations will be processed by cloud or edge computing by 2025.
- New generation of computing: By 2035, McKisney estimates that the potential value of large-scale quantum computing use cases will be more than US$1 trillion (million million).
- Applied artificial intelligence (AI): Over 75% of service touchpoints (such as voice assistants) will see improved usability, enriched personalization, and increased conversion.
- The future of programming: the time required for software and analytics development will be reduced 30 times compared to current levels.
- Trust architecture: around 10% of global GDP will be associated with blockchain by 2027.
- Bio revolution: the cost of sequencing the human genome has fallen 45-fold in the last 10 years.
- New generation of materials: the number of patents registered between 2008 and 2018 has grown tenfold.
- The future of clean technologies: more than 75% of the energy consumed globally will be produced from renewable sources by 2050.
