It looks like it. That is at least the conclusion of this year's electric vehicle (EV) market outlook report published by BNEF. According to the report, the peak would have occurred in 2017. In the wake of the pandemic, the recovery in vehicle sales comes at a time of rapidly expanding EV sales in the world's major automotive markets. The report forecasts that by 2025 EV sales will be 14 million units, up from 3.1 million in 2021. The EV share of automotive sales in 2025 will be 16%, but the average hides another reality: in countries such as Germany, EV sales will reach about 40% of total sales, while in China, the largest EV market in absolute terms, they will reach 25%.
