This week is World Water Day, an event that comes at a time when Chile -and particularly Santiago- is ringing the alarm bells about the scarcity of this vital element. Do you know which countries were the most water-stressed in 2020?
Singapore. The Asian city-state tops the water stress ranking with an index of 5. This index measures the ratio of total water withdrawal (domestic, industrial, agricultural and other) to the availability of water from renewable sources. Singapore joins five other countries with a 5 index, all of which are located in the Middle East. Chile, with an index of 4.56, ranks 23rd among the 157 countries considered.
