The third quarter of 2021 closed with continued growth in the number of new construction entries, according to data from the IConstruye platform. In June, 29 works were entered, compared to 24 and 22 in May and April, respectively. The bulk of the construction projects (more than three quarters) corresponded to apartments and houses, reflecting the reactivation of demand for home purchases. In any case, the number of new construction projects is still well below the 2019 average, which was 60 projects per month. In 2021, January recorded a peak of 59 new construction projects, a phenomenon that was due to the backlog of construction projects in 2020 and the relaxation of sanitary measures. Although resilience is observed in the construction sector, its growth is impacted by political uncertainty and by the strong increase in the price of some of the most important construction materials.
