In a recent JPMorgan report, Chile is the emerging country with the best prospects for achieving Covid-19 immunization of its population.

Since the Covid-19 pandemic began, attention has focused on the concept of herd immunity: the threshold where infections are stabilized on a daily basis by a high level of population immunity. Based on estimates provided by local governments and their calculations, of all the emerging markets they analyzed, Chile is expected to be the first to achieve population immunity as of the second quarter of 2021.

He recalled that Chile has contracted 56 million doses of the different vaccines for a population of 19 million. Each person must receive two doses to achieve the immunizing effect.

Last week, Chile received 2 shipments with nearly 4 million doses of Sinovac vaccine and this week the mass vaccination process began, the first stage of which has focused on people over 90 years of age and from Monday, February 15, the second stage of mass vaccination will begin in Chile. The main focus will be on chronically ill people under 65 years of age.
