Surprising Imacec for February: the Monthly Economic Activity Indicator grew by 4.5% compared to the same period last year.

Our Chief Economist, Nathan Pincheira, referred to this issue on the Clave Morse program on Radio la Clave, where he commented that "there is a very important growth, much higher than what was expected".

He also indicated that "it is a fairly homogeneous growth, whether in manufacturing, mining, services or trade".

Regarding economic growth for this year, he said that "we were at 1.8% and after yesterday's data (Imacec) we raised it slightly to 2.1% for the whole year".
