The national unemployment rate rose 0.4 percentage points to 8.4%. However, employment rose again by 2.9%.

These disparate results are related to the fact that the number of people entering the Chilean labor market is higher than the number of jobs created.

Our Chief Economist, Nathan Pincheira, told Diario Financiero that "the figure continues to show a stagnation in the labor market, with some evident monthly volatility, but in a longer view it does not improve (although it does not get worse either)".
