Moving around and mining cryptocurrencies in an eco-friendly way: an invention on three wheels

Thanks to its solar panels, the vehicle's computer can mine cryptocurrencies while parked.

Avvenire is a Canadian company that manufactures electric bicycles, scooters, and motorcycles. But it wants more. At the end of last year, it unveiled an ambitious prototype that it hopes to start selling in 2023: the Spiritus, which it describes as the fastest three-wheeled vehicle and the only one designed to... mine cryptocurrencies.

The Spiritus is a fully electric, three-wheeled, two-seater car with an ultra-fast charging system, which, in its high-end version, can reach speeds of up to 170 km/h. It also features solar panels that power the on-board computer, which, in addition to controlling the vehicle's functions, is used to mine cryptocurrencies. The idea is that vehicles can take advantage of the computer's capacity while they are not in use.

The new vehicle is not cheap, far from it. The basic model will cost US$22,995. The high-end model, on the other hand, will cost US$149,000. The latter will have a range of up to 480 kilometers and will feature a carbon fiber body and a wireless charging system, among other gems.

An interesting fact? In February, Argentina's Ministry of Productive Development announced that the Spiritus will be manufactured in the province of Córdoba, under an agreement with racing car designer FDC Competición. However, for Argentinians, the Spiritus is something to look at but not touch: it will be exclusively destined for the export market.
