Moving and mining cryptocurrencies ecologically: an invention on three wheels

Thanks to its solar panels, the vehicle's computer can mine cryptocurrencies while parked

Avvenire is a Canadian company that manufactures electric bicycles, scooters and motorcycles. But it wants more. Late last year it unveiled an ambitious prototype that it wants to start selling in 2023: the Spiritus, which it describes as the fastest three-wheeled vehicle and the only one designed to... mine cryptocurrencies.

The Spiritus is an all-electric, three-wheeled, two-person car, with an ultra-fast charging system, and which, in its high-end version, can reach 170 km/h of speed. It also comes with solar panels, which power the on-board computer whose function, in addition to controlling the vehicle's functions, is to mine cryptocurrencies. The idea is that the vehicles can take advantage of the computer's capacity while not in use.

The new vehicle is not cheap, far from it. The basic model will cost US$22,995. The high-end model, on the other hand, will cost US$149,000. The latter will have a range of up to 480 kilometers and will feature a carbon fiber body and a wireless recharging system, among other pearls.

A fun fact? In February, Argentina's Ministry of Productive Development announced that the Spiritus will be manufactured in the province of Córdoba, under an agreement with the racing car designer FDC Competición. For Argentines, however, the Spiritus will be seen but not touched: it will be destined exclusively for the export market.
