Can you check your blood pressure just by taking a selfie with your cell phone?
That is what the Chilean healthtech company Medismart is proposing through SmartCheck, an app that uses artificial intelligence to detect a series of indicators that help assess the risk of a heart attack or stroke.
How does it work?
According to DFLiVE (www.dflive.cl), the app detects hemoglobin concentration in different parts of the face by analyzing transdermal optical images, which allows it to measure about 10 health metrics. It also measures mental stress levels, skin age, and heart rate.
Medismart is a healthtech company founded in 2020 that offers telemedicine, medical tests, and home delivery of medications under a B2B model, in which companies and organizations pay a per-user subscription fee. It operates in Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Argentina, Peru, and Bolivia. Smartcheck, however, is currently available only in Chile.
