Applying new technologies to revitalize - and revalue - an artisanal activity.. That is the vision of Peruvian Vaneza CaychoVaneza Caycho, a carpenter and granddaughter of a cabinetmaker, which led her to found more than 10 years ago IFurniture. This enterprise brings together designers, carpenters and customers, providing them with digital tools to design and manufacture custom furniture. Now Caycho, who is also Lab manager of the FAB Lab at the Universidad Adolfo Ibañeznow wants to go a step further by incorporating robotics into his process.

Its business model revolves around iFurniture Storean e-commerce platform that connects users, designers and furniture manufacturers. For the creation of their web platform and display of customized products, they have developed the OpenGL technologytechnology, with applications that produce 2D and 3D graphics. Thus, they offer online furniture and industrial design products where the user can choose model, size, color, material and participate in the customization of their own product. It is an industrial process that uses technology Fab Labtechnology, which consists of a distributed manufacturing model where production is locally derived to cutting and prototyping centers with industrial machinery and processes.

IFurniture products contain digital assemblies and press-fit joints, and are easy to assemble.. They are developed by a community of women designers and makers called Women Designers. Among other awards, it has won the Women Entrepreneurship Award at the 2018 APEC SME Taiwan as one of the leading women innovators in StartUps business models..
