For some time now, the balance between quality of life and work has been becoming a key factor in the competitiveness of companies, cities, and countries. The technology company Kisi compiles an annual ranking of the cities that offer the best balance between these two aspects, based on 19 factors that cover the intensity of work in those cities—including the percentage of workers who work more than 48 hours a week, vacation time, and holding multiple jobs, among others—as well as society and institutions, and livability.

The top city in the 2022 ranking is Oslo, followed by Bern, Helsinki, and Zurich. Only three Latin American cities made the top 100: Montevideo (94), Buenos Aires (95), and São Paulo (97). The Uruguayan capital also stands out as one of the five cities with the highest levels of overwork.
