Share

Record temperatures have been recorded in several parts of the northern hemisphere in recent weeks. In fact, in July NASA detected the highest temperature ever recorded on the Earth's surface, 80 Celsius at a point in Mexico's Sonoran Desert. Beyond this point, in which country are the hottest places on Earth?

ANSWER

United States. According to the BBC's Science Focus ranking, the so-called Death Valley, in California, is where the highest temperature has been recorded at a measuring station (Sonora's 80 degrees corresponds to a satellite measurement), with a mark of 56.7 degrees Celsius, in July 1913. It is followed by Kebili, in Tunisia, with 55 degrees measured in July 1931, and Ahvaz, in Iran, with 54 degrees measured in June 2017.
