Cleantechs remain strong

Amidst last year's 30% drop in venture capital flows in the United States, one sector continued to attract resources: climate change mitigation companies, ranging from electric vehicle manufacturers to clean energy companies.ranging from electric vehicle manufacturers to clean energy companies. Financing for these companies, known as clean-tech, totaled US$59 billion in 2022a 4% increase over 2021, according to a report published by BloombergNEF.

Concerns about global warming, high energy prices and legislation launched in several countries to promote the decarbonization of the economy have been the main drivers of this interest. Y the trend will continue, given the resources available to invest in the sector: according to the report, 60 clean-tech funds were closed in 2022, raising US$24 billion.

Financing agreements averaged US$10 million in size, compared to US$7 million in 2021.
