Sales of electric cars continue to gain momentum in Chile. Although it is still a very small market, it is experiencing high growth rates. According to the Chilean National Automotive Association (Anac), 4,171 low- or zero-emission vehicles were sold in the country during the first eight months of this year, a 125% increase compared to the same period in 2021. 

This is creating the conditions for the development of a market for charging stations. Along these lines, Enel has created a subsidiary focused on electromobility that, in the case of Chile, plans to install 1,200 charging points for electric vehicles by 2026. Enel’s initiative complements that of Voltex Copec, which has begun rolling out charging stations in various parts of the country. According to a study by the University of Santiago, approximately 20,000 charging points for electric vehicles will be needed in Chile by 2030
