Environmental issues are the order of the day, even more so in the run-up to COP 27 in Egypt. Among the environmental issues of greatest concern is the pollution of the oceans with plastics.

Philippines. The Asian island nation tops the list with 3.3 kilograms per person per year. In the top ten emitters we have a strong presence from Latin America and the Caribbean. The second country that throws the most plastic into the ocean is Suriname, followed by Trinidad and Tobago and St. Lucia. Chile, despite its long coastline, is at the bottom of the table, with just 20 grams per person per year.
