There has been a lot of talk in recent years about artificial intelligence, especially regarding its applications as a tool for automating and optimizing processes. But just as most people viewed it as something out of science fiction or a distant prospect, investors didn’t consider it a priority either.
This changed radically starting in 2018, when there was a sharp increase in corporate investment in artificial intelligence. According to Our World in Data, in 2021, investment in artificial intelligence was 30 times higher than it had been eight years earlier. The emergence and widespread adoption of ChatGPT and other similar AI applications are partly the result of this growth in investment.
The boom in artificial intelligence is not limited to investments in its development. LAcademic publications, attendance at conferences focused on the topic, and PhDs specializing in artificial intelligence have also multiplied.
