Artificial intelligence is one of the most disruptive technologies we have ever had to live with. What effects will it have and how will it change the job market and the future of many professions?

AI is a technology that generates excitement as well as fears. Its potential is so great that it seems to open the doors of good and evil at the same time. If this is a topic that concerns you, one of the most recommended books to reflect with solid arguments on the subject is The Coming Wave: Technology, Power and the 21st Century's Greatest Dilemma (La ola que viene: tecnología, poder y el gran dilema del siglo XXI, Debate, Feb 2024).. Its author is not just an observer. He is one of the protagonists of this technological revolution: Mustafa Suleyman, British researcher and entrepreneur, founder of DeepMind, one of the pioneering companies in the field of AI, later acquired by Google.

In the book, Suleyman shows how AI, along with genetic engineering, will bring immense prosperity, but at the same time threaten the foundations of the global order, which would put us in the dilemma of either choosing between be at the mercy of immense damage or face the threat of a system hypervigilated by the other. This dilemma and others are issues that have been on the table for some time. But in this book they are addressed by one of the actors in the drama. Recommended by The Economist, Financial Times and The New York Times, by Yuval Noah Harari, the Spanish translation came out a couple of months ago.
